Matter as an Event

Against the dark ground, violet matter blooms with sudden, concentrated intensity. At the centre of a horizontal dark-green and violet field gathers a large irregular mass of white, lilac and purple. The form consists of clots, filaments and small black cavities that multiply especially on the right; more linear traces remain at left, and a short ochre vertical surfaces at the edge of the nucleus. Light seems to come from matter itself, as whites gather on the ridges and leave the ground almost uniform at the margins. The opposition between peripheral darkness and intense central activity turns the tangle into a luminous event without deciding whether it belongs to an organism or a purely painterly process.
