Atlas of Making

Twenty-four compartments compose an atlas of making, where every trial preserves a different light. Each cell contains a different combination of black ground, glints of yellow, pink and white, taut lines, waves, points, circles or banded weaves; a coloured strip at the base distinguishes many modules. Broad pale divisions impose constant order, but no inner image repeats exactly and some seem to continue beyond their boundaries. The whole functions as a repertoire of luminous variations, where reading moves continually from individual fragment to the matrix’s overall rhythm.
