The Frozen Movement

Movement remains frozen within the folds, recognisable in the pressure still passing through them. A succession of pale and dark volumes descends along the central axis of the vertical format. Forms bend into angular planes, tighten into knots and reopen into broad grey surfaces, with black shadows accentuating their cavities; faint veils of pink and green surface in a few passages. The grey-lilac ground remains almost empty at the sides, leaving the column to carry the full compositional tension. Matter appears soft and fractured at once: each element seems born from the pressure of the preceding one, creating a continuous chain of torsions, projections and folds.
