VIEW IT AS THE ARTIST DID
Augusto Oppo would narrow his eyes both while painting and when looking at a finished work, softening detail to bring out form, light, contrast and the rhythm of the composition.
This experience digitally interprets that gesture. It does not reconstruct exactly what he saw, but invites us to imagine how the work might have appeared to his gaze.

Against a light-grey ground, the horizontal composition concentrates black, brown and ochre forms at the centre, crossed by red accents and pale marks. Fields of colour, drips and material relief build a dynamic core, while a dark band extends to the right and anchors the arrangement below. The signature ‘A. Oppo’ and the date ‘71’ are visible at lower right, dating the work to 1971. The reported dimensions are 60 × 50 cm. The title is an Archive catalogue designation; technique and support are not documented.
